We have a 12-acre park in our locality used for playing cricket and to be honest, I rarely go there. Mainly because our locality is representative of the Indian cricket saga, with more aspirants than the ground could fit in. The exact probability of anyone getting invited to play cricket there is twice a year. Unless the local cricket team run shorts of a player, you don't get invited.
So I play with a different team on weekends, for which I travel 20 minutes, and their welcome is with the red carpet, another motivation to go.
As luck would favour the brave, my first invite to play in my local cricket team came within the first 3 months of this year.
But when I went there, I was surprised to see a new interesting game played called Takraw. I ditched my cricket invite and was hooked to watch this game. The ball had a lot of holes and was light. When I jogged my memory, I had seen this game played in Rayong, Thailand. Seeing my curiosity, the team leader who runs a startup, explained to me how this game is played and has attracted many people towards it and is gaining popularity now. They participated at the international level. Sharing the video taken with their permission.
My local cricket team captain kept calling me, I said in the Bollywood style "I am busy with Takraw". Getting even is sometimes sweet.
Have you seen this game played in your locality?
